TIP ONE

Always use an expert in your professional area who understands your market and can advise you. Recruitment Consultants often specialise in their sector or industry - find the right one for you.

TIP TWO

Prepare thoroughly before an interview using the company website, google, newspapers and social media. Ensure that you are able to converse confidently about the company and its business activities, any current projects, and company news in the interview. This will show you are truly interested in the job and a career there.

TIP THREE

Dress to impress and specifically for a job interview. First impressions matter, so make it count!

TIP FOUR

Check that your experience matches the requirements stated on the job specification before sending off that application.

TIP FIVE

Make your LinkedIn profile work for you, get colleagues and contacts to recommend you

TIP SIX

Linked In is an important sales tool, promoting ‘your brand’! Ensure it is up to date with all qualifications, languages, and detailed responsibilities. It is also worthwhile ensuring that you have important keywords relating to your skills and industry experience included in your description so that recruiters and employers can find you.

TIP SEVEN

Don’t apply for every job. Concentrate purely on those you are qualified to do. Employers can see if you have applied to multiple jobs, and if some are irrelevant to your skillset then it can often reflect negatively.

TIP EIGHT

Use a spell checker and proof read your CV and EVERY email you send.

TIP NINE

If you know you’re the best candidate for a job, follow up with the job poster! Don’t get lost amongst the other 1000 applicants
